Andy You're a Star
Ok, so I failed in completing a blog, only a few days after I said that I'd start writing a lot again. Ok, so I lied again, so I'm not going to make any promises, but maybe I'll just start blogging more and more...hopefully. Anyway, the past few weeks have been eventful, and that's for sure.
A few weeks ago, the keyboard player in my band, Kevin Becker, had decided that it was his time to leave the band. This was a sad thing, of course, but it's also a turning point in our band, becuase it means that everyone that is with us right now is ready to focus and do some major work in getting to the bigtime.
Last Thursday, my brother and I drove down to St. Louis to go see O.A.R. and Dave Matthews Band at the UMB Bank Pavillion (commonly known as Riverport). We get there, and of course, we know the back way, so we got to bypass all the traffic that was ridiculous on I-270. Anyways, we get there and have to wait to buy the tickets from the guy that had saved a few lawn seats so that my brother and I could go to the show. We get in and O.A.R. has already played like 5 songs, so that's disappointing, but they closed with "Crazy Game of Poker" which is a mediocre song, however, the ENTIRE venue was singing this song at the top of their lungs. "I SAY O, YOU SAY AH, I SAY REVOLUTION." Yeah, all us Abercrombie sporting kids are gonna start a revolution...hmm...that's interesting.
DMB played 4 new songs, yeah, that's right, FOUR new songs. They were all great, titles include "Crazy/Easy", "Joyride", "Hello Again", and "Sugar Will". "Sugar Will" was by far my favorite, but most everyone else's was "Joyride. Needless to say, they were all amazing, and they'll be on the new DMB album to come out sometime soon.
Friday night some of my friends and I went to go see Brad Paisley at the Sangamon County Fair. This was an interesting show, not because I'd never gone to a country concert before, but mainly because my friends never really wanted to watch the show. We probably moved 6-7 times and I never got a good focus on the show. Regardless of whether or not I'm a Brad Paisley fan, I always like to actually WATCH the concerts I go to see. Well, so I ended up seeing probably 20-30 people that I knew there, including a ton of people that I haven't seen in years, so that was cool. Oh, and I saw two of my cousins, weird.
This week has been uneventful, except for the fact that I've begun booking my band's Summer 2004 tour, which is cool. We've gotten our first gigs booked in St. Joseph, Missouri and Warrensburg, Missouri. There will be 10 gigs in 11 days, which should be interesting to say the least.
Watched some more of the 1st season of 6 Feet Under too...i've only got 2 more episodes to go before the season's over, but we're in luck, because Chad just bought seasons 2+3 on DVD and we've got like close to 25 more episodes to go before we catch up with Season 4, which is on TV right now. If any of you out there haven't watched this show yet, stop what you're doing RIGHT NOW............I SAID RIGHT NOW, and go out and either purchase the 1st season, or rent it at your local video store. It's amazing...
Well, it's time to sign off, so I'll drop a line within the next few days...
Later...
