The Moon Softly Weeps a Lullaby
WOW - A NEW POST...
ok, so here's the deal, i can't go on without blogging, without divulging my ideas thoughts and perceptions on life to everyone and their dog. yeah, i know it's kinda wierd, i mean seriously, who makes a triumphant return after their triumphant exit? well me, that's who. there's lots that has gone on in my life since my exit in july, but looks like i am going to explain all in this all-inclusive post...ok, here goes nothing:
i'm now a mac user, did the switcheroo in late july, and let me tell you, i'll never go back! i got an older iMac DV+ from a church that i did some computer work for, and then later on in the month picked up a 15" G4 Powerbook, which I absolutly love, here are the specs:
15" Powerbook
G4 1.5GHz
1GB Ram
Radeon 9700 128MB
80GB 5400 RPM HD
i seriously take this thing everywhere, it hardly ever leaves my side, moving to mac is one of the best things i've ever done...
i have a girlfriend! woo hoo! after months and months of waiting and soul searching, i've finally met my match. her name is angie, she's from freeport, illinoi but she goes to school at ilinois state university in bloomington, so that's how we see each other all the time. i mean, it's crazy how much we hang out, we see each other at least 2-3 times a week, and it is just amazing. she's the coolest girl i've ever met, has the ability to cheer me up within 3 seconds lol and she understands everything about me. my odd sense of humor, my love for music, and my insatiable appetite for technology. she supports me in everything that i do and for that i absolutly love her. she's a theatre major and also works on like sound design for plays, which is totally awesome, i went and saw one of her plays that she did sound for and i was incredibly proud of her, she did an awesome job! we've sure got a lot in common, and that's one thing that's really cool, i hope to be with her for a long long time! here's a pic of
her while we were sitting in a cab on our way to a really sweet clothing shop in chicago ~
on the job front i'm now working at best buy which i love! instead of returning to the media department where i worked a few years ago, i instead went to the computer department which is definetly where i fit a little bit better. it's nice to be able to connect to customers and help them with any sort of computer purchases. most everybody that i help seems to think i know what i'm talking about, so i have my return customers who only buy from me, which is really cool to have. it's like having loyal customers at a restaraunt who will only sit down at your booth. i've had some people ask to give me tips since i don't work off comission, which obviously i can't take due to company policy, but it's definetly the thought that counts!
so the band is going fairly well. it really sucks cuz we can't practice a ton, i mean, i have a job that is at night, so does jason and tony, oh yeah, and chad l has a really stressful job that he does during the day, and sometimes leads into the night, which renders practice with just us 4 almost impossible sometimes. chad e is off at school practicing up on his music theory and piano skills and just having fun with phi mu alpha in general. we've written quite a few new songs, which seem to be going well, and despite our fighting, despite our bickering, we always seem to make good music.
as for technology, i got my powerbook this summer, and i've also purchased a 40GB iPod photo a few weeks ago, which has not left my side except for my band's gig last night, which is the first time in two weeks that i haven't taken it with me everywhere i go. the iPod is quite possibly one of the coolest inventions of our time. no, it's not a new technology, mp3 players have been around for quite some time, and plenty of people have them, but the iPod is definetly the most innovative. the interface is perfect, and easy to navigate the songs. the body is nothing short of beautiful, nice chrome on the back while the front's white fascia adds to it's gorgeousness. the color display is definetly an added bonus, especially now that those songs i purchased off the iTunes Music Store have album art, and i'm now able to enjoy one more factor about those songs i purchased digitally. i might add one more thing about the iTMS, it's just awesome. i decided there's no big difference between buying a cd off a shelf or a cd off the internet. price is almost always cheaper on the internet, quality is almost perfect and the ability to have exactly what i want when i want it is by far the best part about it. for instance, tonight i was just surfing through the music store and came across the band "The Autumns" and their self-titled debut album, which i must say is incredible. everyone that is into the band travis, or alternative or indie music in general needs to go out immediately and purchase this cd! it's nice to know there are stil awesome musicians out there.
speaking of music, earlier this week i got u2's "how to dismantle an atomic bomb" which is nothing short of INCREDIBLE. i'd go as far to say that it's the closest thing that they've ever gotten to "joshua tree." the cd speaks it's own language of guitar that i've never heard before in any other cd, and bono's singing is just the icing on the cake. i can't wait till they go on tour to support this cd, i'll try to make it to as many shows as humanly possible. also...there's one other cool thing that goes along w/ being a u2 fan and having an iPod. all next summer if you go see a u2 show and bring your iPod with you, you can download the show right to your iPod right after! now that is some sweet marketing!
ok, so music is cool, and so are tshirts, at least those from Threadless.com! threadless is an independant tshirt company where users submit artwork that they would like to see on a tshirt, and then the other users vote on those tshirts and say what they think is cool. from now till christmas, the tshirts are only $10 a shirt! i bought 4 the other day, and that's on top of the 4 i already had. the coolest thing about these shirts is hardly anybody has them! you don't have to worry about going out and someone wearing the exact same thing cuz some new shirt came out at abercrombie recently.
on a side note, i'm watching tv and a commercial for the new saab 9-2x just came on and WOW this thing looks sweet.
ok back to my thought...everyone needs to go to threadless and buy some shirts...oh yeah, and threadless gift certificates are great christmas presents too!
i had surgery last monday, and wow, that sucked. i've been down almost all week and doped up on vicodin to subdue the pain, yet it still sucks! but i've been able to get through it, even though i didn't have angie with me...
i got a nintendo ds, which is really sweet. two screens, touch control, and the hype is totally worth it. yeah, i definetly gave into the release date insaneness and got 5 of the 6 release games and the DS. yeah, it's totally worth it, but more about that later, it's seriously late and i need sleep! vicodin is awesome on a side note!
